Week One!

In the Bulldog Art Room 🎨 ...
Welcome to E-Learning with Ms. Demel!

Hey there, artists! Check out my first ever YouTube video above! I miss you all so much. Despite all this missing, I am still very grateful that we are all practicing social-distancing to keep our communities safe. And, lucky for us, we have this super-awesome thing called technology to help us stay engaged and continue to learn while at home, even when it comes to art. What would we have done if this happened 100 years ago? Things would probably be very different.

That being said, if you do not have easy access to technology, no fears: I am also providing paper packets of all our art lesson plans and projects that are posted here. You may pick these up at scheduled school pick-ups.

This particular blog will be the central location for all FISD Art Lesson Essentials. The site will be updated weekly with home-friendly projects that encourage: growth in skill, creativity and development in knowledge of art history and culture.
I will also be posting optional projects and content that you may want to check out (for example, check out the bottom of this post to virtually tour over 30 famous museums across our world).

If you have any questions or need to contact me, here is a list of platforms and links that I use regularly. I will always try to get back with you or your parents in a timely manner.

Extra Art Content (Optional):
Virtually Visit Over 30 Art Museums!
I came across this article listing over 30 Museum links where people can virtually tour their space and view part of their collections. It is pretty cool, plus it is FREE. Now, there is nothing like seeing art in person, but these virtual realities are the next best thing. The detail is impeccable once you focus in on a single work of art, plus all kinds of content pops up to learn more about the art and artist. I could spend hours exploring these world-renowned museums.

Here is the link:

Note to parents: some art content found in museums may not always be child-appropriate. If this is a concern for you, simply check the links ahead of time and monitor while your child is using.

As I close, I wish you some very happy art-making. The next few weeks will have its ups and downs as we adjust to this new system, but I never want the art-making process to stress you out. E-Learning is a new practice for most of us, so it is okay to take it slow as you figure out the nuts and bolts of your new learning routine. Your mission? Just have fun, be curious, and explore all your amazing ideas!
